Run or Dye

So I did the Color Run over the weekend. This was the end result, I'm the one on the far left.


It was a nice day in San Francisco and I was sneezing blue dye for a couple of days. Later in the evening we had a holiday party where I promptly unraveled the workouts I had done. But it was so worth it. 

I did not workout today because I fell back asleep, not an excuse, just a fact.

Cool Uke Stuff of the Day!
I saw the Hobbit Desolation of Smaug this weekend. It was awesome, but talk about a cliff-hanger. I also made a gingerbread hobbit hole which I have not taken pictures of yet. In the spirit though, here are the tabs to play "Misty Mountains Cold".

Short Post for Short People

I had another lazy start.

Exercise
10 minutes light stretching and yoga
60 squats

Cool Ukulele Stuff A.K.A. WINE MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER!
I discovered during yesterday's practice that much like walking in heels, I do better after a glass of wine. I loosened up and wasn't so stiff and was able to do scales with relative ease. I feel that I'm fairly ready to start working on some beginner songs in conjunction with scales practice.

Did not do great on my diet yesterday. I had pizza and junkie snacks last night and I have plans to make a gingerbread house in the near future.  I'm a little sore from yesterday, but considering that a really don't workout at all, it is expected.

I also have not been able to practice the ukulele since last week. However,  Ukulele Mike who has a YouTube channel where he teaches ukulele and makes arrangements, started following my ukulele pinterest board. Now I'm sure he follows hundreds of such boards but I'm excited that he's on pinterest. I had no idea.

Exercise
10 minutes light stretching and yoga
55 squats
I plan on additional at-work exercise,  though updates will come on that.

Excuse
I'm sore and I want to lay in bed looking at pinterest and snuggling with the cat.

Response
Ehh, I gave in. Laid in bed for 30 minutes and only got the squats in.

Doing Something is Better Than Nothing

I was recently down on myself with a couple of friends about gaining 10lbs fairly rapidly and suddenly realized that I didn't have the muscle strength I used to have. They gave me a bit of balance to my lopsided view I had developed. Doing something, ANYTHING, is better than nothing. If all I can manage is 20 sit ups and nothing else, it's better than nothing. Worst case scenario I'm putting myself in the mindset to make it a habit.

Starting slow on day one workout.
Early morning stretches/mild yoga 10 minutes
10 sit ups & 10 reverse sit ups 
25 leg raises each leg 
50 squats with combo 5lb weighted arm exercises

Excuse of the morning
It's cold and I woke up way too early.

Perfect, you're not going to go back to a good sleep anyways and your ass needs a shower.

Motivation
My workout best bud, Bianca, has me walking the 5k color run in San Francisco on Saturday and I at least need to be loose and energetic.

Star Date One

Hey there Internets. I'm Christine and this is my new years resolution blog. I'll be talking about learning to live healthy and learning to play the ukulele. They don't have much to do with each other other than me being new to both.

Welcome.

A Little About Me
I am 27 years old, I do not have kids, I am a total nerd and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have a desk job and all of my favorite activities involve being indoors.
I am 5ft. 3in. tall, that's 160cm for those of you who smartly use the metric system.

(December 9th, 2013) As of the beginning of this blog I weigh 174lbs.
That's 78.9kg or 12.4 stones if you're a Brit. . . . Just trying to be honest and clear.

According to the BMI I should weight somewhere between 111lbs and 146lbs. The lightest I've weighed in my adult life was 144lbs and I was losing weight from stress at the time. The healthiest I ever felt was at 155lbs. I was active and strong and beautiful and I didn't even know it til I was up 20lbs and down a lot of muscle. So my goal is to get to that strong healthy weight and feeling again and worry about anything extra I need to do then.
